Fold choices

Half-fold: Also, known as portrait fold, the half fold is a card where the height is longer than the width. Ideal for a central design feature with a Christmas greeting sentiment stacked below or above. 

Tent-fold: The fold runs along the top edge, and the card opens in an inverted 'v' shape. Also, commonly known as a landscape fold, this type of folded card is perfect for displaying wide images such a festive winter landscapes or Santa’s sleigh and nine reindeers in flight.

Paper Options

Trucard
A specialist greeting card material that is coated and scratchproof on the outside and uncoated inside so it's easy to write on. We use heavy 280gsm card for high-quality greeting cards that last in either matt or gloss finish with no lamination required.

Silk
Silk coated paper has a smooth feel with a discreet surface sheen. It offers excellent ink to paper contrast, and printed colours appear distinct and clear.

Gloss
Gloss coated paper has a shiny surface and very smooth finish. Colour is sharp and stands out well. Ink dries quickly and the need for lamination is reduced.

Uncoated 
Our uncoated paper is a great choice for leaflets that need to be written on as it is absorbent, and therefore easy to write on. Printed inks appear flatter due to this absorbency, and the paper has a soft tactile finish. A recycled option is available.

Matt lamination gives a soft, contemporary effect. Gloss lamination gives a higher quality shine finish than gloss card. Lamination is most useful with solid colours or images to enhance their vibrancy or where you want to protect your printed documents. 

Lamination is not available on luxury papers.

Q. Are Christmas Cards going out of fashion?
A. Although physical cards are slowly going out of fashion and more people are connecting and communicating through the digital world, Christmas cards are a tradition that is still continuing. This is because there is nothing that feels as personal as receiving a card in the post; especially something that is designed and personalised for you.

Q. When I order online with Digital Printing, does my Christmas Card come with an envelope?
A. No. However, if you would like envelopes with your Christmas Card order, please select so in your product specification. Please note that there will be an additional charge for envelopes.

Q. What colour are the envelopes that come with my printed Christmas Cards?
A. Our envelopes are white.

Q. What folds are available with your Christmas Cards?
A. You can choose between our half-fold and tent-fold Christmas Cards. Choosing our half-fold Christmas Cards means your card is printed vertically with a simple fold along the side. Our tent-fold Christmas Cards, however, will be printed horizontally with a fold along the top edge of the card.

Q. What papers do you offer with Christmas Cards?

Q. Can I choose to have a luxury paper for my Christmas Cards?
A. Yes! Here at Digital Printing, we have over 10 luxury papers for you to choose from. Q. What finishes do you offer for Christmas Cards?
A. Our Christmas Cards are available in a number of finishes including matt lamination, gloss lamination or no lamination. However, lamination is not available on luxury papers.

A. Our best-selling Christmas Card is A4 folded to A5, printed on 350gsm uncoated, gloss laminated one-side with a half fold.

Q. When will my Christmas Cards arrive?
A. Here at Digital Printing, we offer a number of different delivery and turnaround options for you to choose from because we understand that you may need your order as soon as possible. Our standard job turnaround and despatch is 24 hours or less from receipt of order, however, express turnarounds are only available on certain products and quantities.

Q. Do I need to add bleed and crop marks on my artwork?
A. Yes, this is very important when producing cards. Please provide at least 3mm bleed on all edges. Check our Bleed Explained guide for more details.

Q. Do I need to adhere to certain margins when designing my Christmas Cards?
A. Yes. You will need to allow for a 5mm ‘Safe Area’ from the edge of the page. Also, the type and size of your card will determine the margins that you need to follow. If you are unsure of the layout and size that you are working with, you can view our free templates to help guide you.

Q. Do I need to supply fonts?
A. If you supply us with a Print-Ready PDF then the fonts should be embedded. Occasionally, we may request the fonts when supplying files in other formats.

Q. How do I supply my artwork?
A. You can supply 1 PDF file with all the pages in the correct running order. For more information, please see our Print-Ready PDF guide.
