What is Saddle Stitching?
The saddle stitching process binds folded pages using staples along the spine, resulting in a stapled booklet with a sharp and sleek finish. This binding method is ideal for producing cost-effective, professional-looking booklets.
Is Saddle-Stitching the Right Fit for Your Project?
Saddle stitching is best suited for documents from 8 to 64 pages. For booklets over 40 pages, we square off the spine to ensure a smooth, polished look and to prevent the pages from springing open.
For thicker documents beyond the 64-page limit, consider Perfect Bound Books, which offer a more robust binding solution where saddle-stitching is not possible.
How to Prepare Your Saddle-Stitched Booklet
To print a saddle-stitched booklet, each document must be created in multiples of four pages, similar to how a traditional book is structured. For example, one page folded in half becomes a four-page "booklet."
We recommend adding 3mm of bleed to ensure a perfect edge. You can find design templates for all popular sizes in the Design Templates section below to help you get started.
Please submit your saddle-stitched booklets as one multi-page PDF, with each page running in sequence from the front cover to the back cover, including any blank pages required.
Customising Your Booklet’s Size and Finish
We offer a variety of preset brochure sizes, including A4 portrait, A4 landscape, A5 portrait, A5 landscape, A6, and 210mm x 210mm square. If you need a unique size, simply specify your custom dimensions during the quote process.
Additionally, we provide an extensive range of luxury paper and high-quality paper stocks to ensure your booklet stands out.
For extra durability and a polished look, you can opt for matt or gloss lamination on your cover.

Paper Options
Silk
Silk coated paper has a smooth feel with a discreet surface sheen. It offers excellent ink to paper contrast and printed colours appear distinct and clear. A recycled option is available. (130gsm – 350gsm)
Gloss
Gloss coated paper has a shiny surface and very smooth finish. Colour is sharp and stands out well. (130gsm – 350gsm)
Premium uncoated
Our premium uncoated paper is more absorbent than coated papers. Printed inks appear smoother due to this absorbency and the paper has a soft finish. A recycled option is available. (100gsm – 350gsm)

Finishes
Matt lamination gives a soft, contemporary effect. Gloss lamination gives a higher quality shine finish than gloss card. Lamination is most useful with solid colours or images to enhance their vibrancy or where you want to protect your printed documents. Lamination is only available on stocks over 250gsm.
